Salary & Benefits

The following are the expected benefits for all residents trained by Health Education Services at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center during the 2023 – 2024 academic year. The benefits summary is updated annually and may be subject to change. If changes occur, Residents will be notified by the program coordinator or program director.


Salary

Also known as the “base stipend”, this is the annual salary paid monthly that the program provides residents to offset living expenses while training:

  • PGY1 = $53,400
  • PGY2 = $55,000
  • PGY3 = $57,000

Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance Benefits

  • Medical Plan – Blue Cross and Blue Shield is available to residents and their eligible dependent(s)
  • Dental Care – Comprehensive dental coverage available through Delta Dental
  • Vision Care – Visit Service Plan (VSP) available and offers services for examinations, lenses and frames
  • Prescription Drug Plan – Optum RX is the prescription carrier, offering savings on generic and preferred brand drugs

Reimbursable Expenses

The following costs are reimbursed by Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center following receipt of the required documentation and do not require pre-approval:

  • Annual Missouri State Training/Temporary License
  • Missouri Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs (BNDD) registration
  • One USMLE Step 3 or COMLEX Level 3 attempt, if taken on or after the first day of Orientation

Paid Time-Off (PTO) and Leave(s) of Absence

  • 4 weeks paid vacation, available the first day of Orientation
  • Up to 2 weeks sick leave, available the first day of Orientation
  • Up to 6 weeks of One-Time Medical, Caregiver or Parental Leave, available the first day of Orientation and 1 additional week of paid vacation upon Program Director approval
  • Counseling and Psychological Support Services Employee Assistance Program
  • The Employee Assistance Program is a voluntary work-based program offering free and confidential assessments, short-term counseling, referrals, and follow-up services to employees who have personal and/or work related problems.

Professional Liability Insurance

Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center provides resident physicians with professional liability insurance to cover the resident physician while acting in the performance of their duties and assignments within the training program (moonlighting activities is not covered).
